Nicaragua Mission Trip
Santa Martha, Nicaragua
With motivation from a friend, Catalyst joined Southern Hill’s Mustard Seed Mission. We learned that there was a pastor in Santa Martha who refused to move to the city, despite what other pastors were doing. When we first asked her about her community, “beautiful people, hard working people, and faithful people” were words Pastora Guillermina used to describe her home. After crossing a man-made bridge over a flooded river, tears hit our eyes as we were greeted with worship music and praise from the whole community. “All we did was provide them with a playground”, that’s not how Pastora Guillermina saw it. This playground had a purpose. Not only will these give the children a place to play, but it’ll also bring them to church. It’ll bring their parents to church. There will be generations that play on this playground and no doubt experience the presence of God.
Supporting Others
It takes a community to help a community. After months of fundraising, vision casting, and a lot of help from our own community here in Carrollton, we were able to ship a playground and install in next to the church in Santa Martha. THANK YOU, Superior Recreational Products, for your donation. The playground is beautiful!

Monte Fresco, Nicaragua
It happened on accident. One day during our trip it rained so much that we couldn’t make it to Santa Martha. Yelba, our host, asked if we wanted to see her community. She forgot to mention that she runs her own ministry where they preach the word of God by holding devotionals with bible readings, songs, and games. At the end they serve food. They teach values such as love for one’s neighbor, sharing, respect but above all that they have great value as human beings, and that God and God’s followers love them as they are.
They serve food two to three times a week for the children and do the same for a group of elderly people.
“On a normal day in our community, some have food, others only eat once, others don’t eat at all. Our mission is to help.” ~ Yelba Rivera
Our Contribution
We thought they could use more practice for when we return and so we helped get them some soccer goals. As a church, we’ve committed $100/month towards their feeding program.
Our goal for 2024/2025 is to continue to support Yelba and her ministry in Monte Fresco. Upcoming projects include a water tower ($450) and a riding lawn mower ($800).
